Hello All.
The day just gets better and better.
Once again I have deleted all cookies and history etc.
Still can’t do pics.
Grrrrrrrrrrr.
Am blaming Grandson…he was on my computer today.
Have to blame someone.
My father, brother and Grandson have been doing the dishes.
Some pipe is leaking.
Water everywhere.
Mex has gone to bed.
Think I will break the news to him in the morning.
The three men examining the pipes are completely useless.
Since I arrived my mother has been asking when I am going to cut her toe nails.
I really have not had the time.
Or the inclination.
I am a bad daughter.
Today I discovered the woman across the road does pedicures and manicures.
I have arranged for her to come over tomorrow to do the dirty.
Instead of getting a thank you I was informed I am too lazy to cut them myself.
Mex and I have spent the last three days cleaning her frigging house.
My back is completely buggered.
And I am lazy?
This from the woman who refused to come to the table for supper.
Had to have her food brought to her.
I am beginning to remember why we are not close.
Sorry I am laying this all on you guys.
But I need to get this off my chest.
Or I might do someone a serious damage.
Right now I am dealing with….
A grumpy partner…with good reason.
An 88 year old Dad who is very sweet but panics a lot.
A mother who moves from her bed to her chair.
And reads a book a day.
A brother who has brain damage from a brain tumour.
Who leaves things all over the place.
Has short term memory loss.
And has me putting ointment on an “itchy” spot on his foot.
His foot!!!
He can reach his own damn foot.
On the upside Jasmine and my Mom’s old dog Jessie are getting on well.
Tom has settled in beautifully.
He has his choice of bed companions every night.
I took Jasmine for a LONG walk yesterday.
And took pics.
Which I can’t show you.
Very large area of veld.
Not the beach but quite pretty.
This weekend I will find a beach.
Now I am off to bed.
First I will try once more to upload a pic.
Nope it didn’t work.

I don’t blame you getting the lady from across the road, I don’t think I could do that either. I think you need to get some rest, and breathe deeply and count to ten and drink wine!
You’re one strong woman, Granny – I’d have moved back to Capetown already. I think you’re earning many shiny stars from the Big Guy Above. I don’t blame you for venting here, I’d do the same thing. In fact I’d probably start a whole other blog about it and rail on incessantly! Unfortunately your mom sounds a lot like mine, so I feel like I’m getting a glimpse into my future….if I can stand to be as big-hearted as you. 🙂
How I feel for you, Kathy. But you are doing what you need to do. I can identify with that, Have a glass of vino and remember that all things pass in the end.

Nice to know Jasmine is settling in, even if its all taking a toll on you. Hopefully it will all ease soon
You’re a trooper as they say. Better than throwing them into a horrible home. That is what the people next to my parents did to their parents. And the parents had plenty of money to have all of the home health care they could ever want! Some kids are awful.
Just reading about what’s going on at your new residence makes me feel tired!
I think someone needs to have a word with your mother! How did she manage before you moved there? Who cut her toe nails before? I’m not surprised that you’re getting cross about it all.

I lost track of your BLOG for awhile and missed you. My hubby and I were planning on visiting my dad in Capetown later this year and so hoping to take you for a cup of coffee/tea. Disapointed on the account of you NOT being in CapeTown at the moment, where do you parents live again? I am very worried that you are being run ragged, you might need to be firm with your mom as she is expecting too much from you. I am not in your shoes and I know that I only see my MIL once every couple of months and with her Short-term-memory-loss, it’s not easy. I will say my prayers for you. You are such a good daughter!!
I used to hate cutting my mom’s toenails and she always complained, too. Sometimes. whatever you do, someone complains. At least you make a bad day sound funny.
Lazy my ass granny! You are exhausted and need a break. Good for you getting a pedicurist/manicurist to come and do the job. I totally would’ve done it too. Set boundaries my love, right from the word go. Otherwise you are going to battle. Love you xxx
