Not because I really want to.
It is better than starving.

I adore her and you will see a lot of pictures of her on my posts.
I also have a Ginger cat called Tom.
My grandchildren picked the name!

I live near a beautiful beach.
I post pictures of it on a daily basis.
love taking Jasmine for walks every day.
She loves it even more.

  1. Erm, me again. How do I get my avatar onto my comments? WordPress seems kinda complicated!

    • I do it by going to Bloginfo on the top menu bar…then say add to blogroll…then if you go to links you see everyone…if you go to Blogsurfer you should see who has posted lately but not everyone seems to come up there.
Is that as clear as mud?

      • Im looking at an old blog here-but I dont see any of this stuff at the top-i dont really have a menu bar-I cannot understand the RSS feed stuff-i cant get it to work or anyone to tell me in simple terms how to do it. 3. Hi Granny, I came across your blog by accident. Well, it wasn’t quite by accident – in fact over this postaweek2011 I stumbled over the name of your blog.
For years Granny1947 was my nick while I was surfing thru the internet. 🙂 1. because I’m a grandmother of 3 lovely girls and 2. because I was born in 1947. So we have quite a bit in common. 🙂
Some years back I changed my nick to Grethe which is a short form of Margarethe.
I’m living in Germany and so my blog is in german, of course. But I’ve often thought of having one in english, too.
I like your blog very much and after I’ve read my way through I it, I will return regularly.
Greetings and reading you again soon, Grethe

    • Good Morning Grethe and welcome to my blog…always nice to see a new face and future friend.
      Are you German?
      Your English is excellent.
      Whereabouts are you in Germany?
I spent two and a half months near Kiel.
I loved the Germans…they never ever laughed at my atrocious German!!!

  4. Good Morning to you, too, Granny. I’m so happy you answered my comment. When I checked last night it was gone and I was afraid you might consider it spam.
Yes, I’m German and thank you for your lovely compliment concerning my english.
I lived in the states for quite a while – but that was ages ago and I’m afraid my english got a bit rusty since then. I live near Munich at the foot of the alps, but I was born in Bremen. Only one of the reasons why I enjoy your beach fotos so much. 🙂 Why were you in Kiel? Or is this question too personal?. So you speak some German too? Maybe you can understand my blog a bit after all. I’m considering of running it bilangual in the future.
In Cape Town Summer is slowly coming to an end I suppose. Here we are waiting for spring. It will still be a long time away I’m afraid.
Have a wonderful Thursday evening – the day is just starting for us. A friendly Hello from Germany – Grethe

    • Hello Again Grethe…I went to bed very early last night so I didn’t see your comment.
I went to Germany on a visit…My first husban’ds family are German…I had a wonderful time and made some incredible friends. I still correspond with them….they write to me in German and I reply in English….it seems to work.
Tonight I will come over and see if I can understand your blog.
I spent a couple of days in Munich and loved it….very pretty place.
      Have a great day.

  6. sarcasim is the lowest form of wit but I love it, many people don’t catch it here in dubai. I have kind of lost it so everytime I go back to S.A. the family catches me out.
I enjoy your posts, it reminds me of home:)

  7. What a fabulous place to live! Is it out of the way to stop that scary cat from frightening strangers? Brilliant photo.

    I loved the teeth joke.

You are wicked. I’m subscribing immediately.

Thanks for visiting me; I might never have known about you otherwise.

  8. I have a confession. Only today that I read what you wrote. I subscribe for the photos you take, and your form of writing are like poems (which i am not fond of) so i never read it.

but after reading it today, i realized how i missed out on your posts.

so today is my awakening day.

    Love it!
    Jesse

  9. Hi Granny, I found your blog by way of oldereyes. He thanked you on his blog, and I thought, “Wow, I could be Granny1947 too!” I was born in 1947, in Denver, Colorado, USA where I still live. I have lived in Germany (my first husband was in the United States Air Force) and Dover, Delaware, USA. I noticed that Grethe is a 1947 Granny too! I have two daughters who produced three grandchildren for me–one girl and two boys (brothers). I live near the Rocky Mountains, so I’m a mountain lover (not climber). They have been on my western horizon for most of my life. Love your blog! It is like poetry, as another reader noted.

Also, let me know if you come up PE way!

  14. I haven’t been getting notifications when you publish a new post Kathy, and on checking, I found that I am no longer subscribed to your blog??? 😦
    I definitely didn’t unsubscribe – so I have re-subscribed!
No wonder I’ve been missing you!

  15. Hi Granny. I just found your post. I think its great. I am also a Granny of one grandson. How do you post your pictures. I can’t find out any info on that. I also have a couple of orange cats, Rusty and Morris. A dog called Odie. They are great company.

  17. Hello Granny!

I am a journalist and am writing a feature looking at over-60s bloggers in South Africa and came across your blog. I would love to ask you a couple of questions about why you started blogging, what you enjoy about it and so on. Please do get in touch. Thanks!

  18. Brilliant love your about, I am an Australian and have a Chihuahua xbreed called Tibby who is my life and joy. Up until a month ago she had a brother as well, he passed away. A gentle soul he was. They were both 17, there is no signs of Tibby slowing down yet.

  19. Hi, Granny. I’ve only just found your blog and like it very much. I see your comments on Jeff Cann’s blog so thought I’d pop over to see what you’re doing. You certainly do have your hands full with seven grandchildren. How old are they all? I have four grandchildren (doubt they’ll be anymore now as children are so expensive to raise now). I’ve got three girls, 16,13 and 9 and one boy, 7. I’ve just signed up to get your posts regularly now and am looking forward to hearing more about you and your life. Take care, Ellie 🙂

    • Please don’t ask me all their ages.
Hard enough to remember their birthdays.
      The eldest is 30…eeeek.
Think the youngest is 12 or 13.
Don’t have my hands full because they all live a long way from me.
      We are a confusing family.
I adopted one of my grandkids so I suppose I have five kids and six grandkids.

  20. Can’t find a ‘contact’ form so I’ll tell you here…

You were kind enough to comment on my post last week ‘This page is intentionally blank’ to ask “Why?????”, and it seemed only polite to be sure that you understood that it was a trick. The text is white, so it only appears to be blank (try selecting the text).

It was supposed to be funny. I realize now, perhaps not so much if you didn’t spot the legerdemain.
