Granny goes out…..for the count

Hello All.

I wasn’t going to post but I thought what the hell.
I really have nothing interesting to talk about.

We have just come back from eating out.
Not only was the food good but I didn’t have to cook.
Life is good.
Sometimes.
We went to the Spur.
A local Franchise.
Do you have it in the States?
I love the menu.
They tell you to ask the waiter what the veggies of the day are.
I don’t know why they bother.
It is ALWAYS butternut and creamed spinach.
Fortunately, I like both of them.
I didn’t even miss the fries.
Can’t remember when last I had one.

Every frigging day I get an sms from our security company.
Telling me to phone them to test our alarm.
Yesterday, I thought I would do it.
I spoke to someone with no brain cells.
I mean NO brain cells.
It took me five minutes, talking VERY slowly and clearly to get it into her head where I lived.
Which alarm I wanted her to test.
She kept asking me if I was some business.
Finally, she told me to press the panic button and they would phone me back.
I did.
And they didn’t.
Phone me back.
After ten minutes I phoned THEM.
And told them, in no uncertain terms, just how inefficient they are.
God help us if we ever need them in an emergency.

I am supposed to be here to keep an eye on the old folk.
Their alarm goes off quite often.
I ignore it.
They are always sitting on the panic button.
Jasmine doesn’t even react to the alarm.
I like to think if someone broke in she would tell me.
While hiding behind me.

And now I am off to bed.
Oh wait…last night I dreamed I had a sister who gave birth.
And I started lactating.
And feeding the baby.
WTF?????

  1. I’ve never heard of Spur restaurant here in the states, at least not in the northeast or down the coast where we’ve traveled most often. That’s pretty disconcerting about the alarm company! Maybe they’re tired of the panic alarm coming from your folks’ alarm so they ignored yours! 😉 That sure was a weird dream you had

  2. We had a malfunctioning fire alarm the other day at work and everyone had to leave the building. No one died in the fake fire, but I think a lot of people were contemplating death by hypothermia. Aren’t alarm systems great. 🙂

    • We often used to have fire drills at work.
I used to think that if there was REALLY a fire I would say bugger the staff and get my car to safety…and my handbag.

  3. Oh my word, what a dream/nightmare/whatever! Don’t you just love our security companies? Here’s hoping Jasmine is much better than them and then, as you say, hides, because we’d hate anything to happen to her.

  4. I’ve never heard of Spur but I’m in Texas so perhaps they’re in another part of the States. We all have different restaurant franchises. Except for McDonalds. They are everywhere. Good food sounds good. I took the granddaughters for dinner on Sunday to a seafood restaurant and had a good meal. Except for some unknown reason, one of them got upset about something. I think it had to do with her sister. Your dream was disturbing. How very strange. And about your alarm. My daughter’s alarm company kept calling me when her alarm went off. It had a short in it but I got the phone calls. Highly annoying. I finally ignored them. I wonder if alarms are worth it.

  5. I’m a big fan of Spur fillet – it is consistently good and better than at many posher restuarants. We have ADT too but are thinking of changing to our neighbourhood security company instead. We never ever see an ADT vehicle in our suburb but the neighbourhood security cars are all over the place.

  6. That was one weird dream, Were you eating cheese before you went to bed? OR, maybe you have a secret you are not telling us about? Should I start making bootees? 😆
