Granny is HOT

Good Evening All.

The subject line should have the perverts rushing over.

It is after five in the evening and the temperature in my sitting room is still 28 degrees.
I have no idea what that relates to in overseas measurements.
Take my word for it…it is HOT.
My hair is sopping wet.
The hairdo is history!

I read somewhere that cats give orders.
This is definitely true in the case of Tom.
He came in this morning and demanded food.
The special stuff.
Not his pellets.
Then he yelled to be let into HIS room.
I went in to take this picure.
Can’t you just see what he is thinking?
“what the hell do you want?”

It is now after eight.
It is still hot.
I can’t think.

We went for a little drive this morning.
To a village along the way from ours.
A different view of my beach.
The village and beach at the top of the photo is where I usually walk.

I got angry this afternoon.
Very angry.
My granddaughter needed a copy of her adoption papers.
Somehow or other I never got her name changed to mine when the adoption went through.
While I was looking for the paper I found an affadavit signed by her biological mother before the adoption.
She was trying to get an old, deaf and very unpleasant aunt of hers to adopt.
Even though I had had the child from the age of 11 months.
Note…SHE didn’t want the child.
She accused me of abusing the child.
Of being an alcoholic.
Which was just ridiculous.
I had to get my lawyer to threaten her with defamation.
She backed off.
The aunt had written to Social Services.
To President Mandela’s office.
To the ombudsman.
To the guy who collects the rubbish.
She was a complete fruitcake.

It all ended well and the adoption went through.
Reading that damn affadavit full of lies brought it all back.
How dumb to get angry all over again.

Anyway, now the sweat is running into my eyes.
I am off for a cold shower.

Catch you all tomorrow.

  1. of course tom is boss, he’s the cat

summer feels as thought the worst is ocer for us, cool breezes now and then. but of course your summer often starts later and then runs late – silly cape town

  2. Hi Granny, I know how hot that is and I would love to be there. It’s 2° where I am.

At least everything got sorted out in the end but I would have been angry too! 🙂

  3. It’s hard not getting mad all over again at such painful memories. But thank goodness that everything turned out well in the end.

I absolutely hate summer heat, especially when it’s intensified by humidity. We’re still a few weeks away from spring, but I’m already dreading the approaching summer months….I have a feeling it’s going to be another nasty one. Once May starts, I begin a countdown to fall!!

  4. It’s as I have always said-dogs have masters, cats have staff. My Bella has no interest in me or loving on me EXCEPT when she wants me to open the canned food or is telling me to clean the litter box. I am their servant. Sadly, it’s still less work than caring for a dog. I am just that lazy. Tell Tom he’s handsome and you find a way to keep yourself cool, lady!

  5. Cats rule! I love the look he’s giving you – typical when they don’t want you around!
Sounds unbearably hot where you are – go have a nice cold shower and you will feel better.

  6. Cats own you and you just have to get used to it.

Getting mad after all this time (I presume it’s been a few years) suggests that you have some unresolved issues. Writing about it and working through it might help. It’s how I ended up with a whole collection of poems about South Africa. You don’t have to share it with anyone else.

  7. I don’t even know where to start with this one: the heat, the cold shower, the cat’s imperious glance, the unresolved anger, the perverts that you seem intent on inviting to your blog, your Sunday drive . . .

You sure cover a lot of ground in a few words. 😉

    Keep cool!

  8. That sure is a dirty look you’re getting from Tom.
Maybe time to burn that horrid piece of paper?
Only one thing for the heat, cold wine.
    Love you. xxx

  9. What a beautiful cat. The looks they can give amaze me. I am sure they wonder how they ever managed to get below us in life!

You live in such a beautiful place. I would adore taking walks along the beach with you. Since I live on the other side of the world and am deathly afraid to fly I guess that won’t happen. So post lots of gorgeous photos for us.

Nancy sent me over to have a look at your beautiful Tom. I have a gray colored Miss Kitty. I would have a house full if my husband would permit.

    • Oh brother…what a long name!!! what shall I call you? OK…your e-mail…IMC it is…hope you don’t mind.
I post a picture of the beach every day…think people must be getting sick of them!
Thank you so much for the visit!

  10. “To the guy who collects the rubbish.” I take it this is not literally meant, but rather creatively ironic considering how they treated the precious gift of a child. Sounds like she was lucky to have you 🙂 The whole issue of unwanted children is so sad for me.

  11. I had to check on the conversion:

    28 x 1.8 = 50.4 + 32 = 82.4 (perfect for me . . . unless I’m hot under the collar) 😉
    38 x 1.8 = 68.4 + 32 = 100.4 (a wee bit warm)
